Imagining Our Future: The Essential Role of Climate Fiction and Nonfiction in Shaping Middle Grade Minds (Booklist) Online

Join us for an author panel that is sure to leave attendees with a renewed passion for empowering young readers to take action in their own communities. As today's young readers navigate an increasingly complex world, climate literature—both fiction and nonfiction—emerges as a vital tool in fostering environmental awareness, empathy, and critical thinking skills. During this session, middlegrade authors will explore how engaging narratives can inspire middle grade students to envision potential futures, understand the science behind climate change, and cultivate a sense of agency. Booklist editor of Books for Youth and Graphic Novels, Sarah Hunter will appear in conversation with Mikaela Loach (CLIMATE IS JUST THE START), Lynne Kelly (THREE BLUE HEARTS), and María José Fitzgerald (TURTLES OF THE MIDNIGHT MOON), and Nicholas Day (A WORLD WITHOUT SUMMER).
